A Path to Woodworking Expertise

Bradley Underwood’s pathway to woodworking expertise has taken some unexpected turns. It’s not like the proverbial tree had to fall on him, but he does admit that when it came to crafting with wood, he just “fell into it.”

Bradley grew up in a Florida household where his family knew how to build things. He got started in the construction trades at a young age, and eventually focused on remodeling houses. By the time he moved to Beech Mountain in 2003, his work had become profitable enough to enable him to invest in real estate. More than that, he fell in love with the mountains, and with skiing, and decided he just had to stay.

As the market slowed and eventually came to a crashing halt, Bradley used his entrepreneurial skills to move from one area of expertise to another. He operated his ski shop during the winter months, and used his real estate broker’s license when the snow was gone.

A Turning Point

Along the way, he kept his carpentry skills honed, enjoying the creative break that crafting furniture gave him. One summer day he decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and opened up his shop to work outdoors. That was a turning point. Passersby saw what he was making; they stopped, they bought, they ordered more. Bradley Underwood saw his future take a new direction.
